One cut homeobox 1 (ONECUT1), auch Hepatocyte nuclear factor 6 (HNF6) genannt, zeigt eine starke Expression in der Leber und eine geringere Expression in Hoden und Haut. Das ONECUT1-Gen ist auf 15q21.3 kartiert. Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der Cut-Homeobox-Familie von Transkriptionsfaktoren. Die Expression des kodierten Proteins ist in der Leber angereichert, wo es die Transkription von leberexprimierten Genen stimuliert und die Glucocorticoid-stimulierte Gentranskription antagonisiert. Dieses Gen kann eine Vielzahl zellulärer Prozesse beeinflussen, einschließlich des Glukosestoffwechsels, der Zellzyklusregulation, und es kann auch mit Krebs in Verbindung gebracht werden.
