Die DExH-Box-Helikase 29 (DHX29) ist ein 155 kDa großes Protein, das beim Menschen vom DHX29-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der DEAH (Asp-Glu-Ala-His)-Unterfamilie von Proteinen, die Teil der DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp)-Box-Familie der RNA-Helikasen ist. Das kodierte Protein fungiert bei der Translationsinitiierung und wird speziell für das ribosomale Scannen über stabile mRNA-Sekundärstrukturen während der Initiationskodon-Auswahl benötigt. Dieses Protein könnte auch eine Rolle bei der Erkennung von viralen zytosolischen Nukleinsäuren spielen. Ein Knockdown dieses Gens führt zu einer reduzierten Proteintranslation und einer beeinträchtigten Proliferation von Krebszellen.
