Das CD3e-Molekül, Epsilon, auch bekannt als CD3E, ist ein Polypeptid, das beim Menschen durch das CD3E-Gen kodiert wird, das sich auf Chromosom 11 befindet. Es ist auf 11q23.3 kartiert. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist das CD3-Epsilon-Polypeptid, das zusammen mit CD3-Gamma, -Delta und -Zeta sowie den T-Zell-Rezeptor-Alpha/Beta- und Gamma/Delta-Heterodimeren den T-Zell-Rezeptor-CD3-Komplex bildet. Dieser Komplex spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Kopplung der Antigen-Erkennung an mehrere intrazelluläre Signaltransduktionswege. Die Gene, die die Epsilon-, Gamma- und Delta-Polypeptide kodieren, befinden sich im selben Cluster auf Chromosom 11. Das Epsilon-Polypeptid spielt eine wesentliche Rolle bei der T-Zell-Entwicklung.
