CD27 ist ein Mitglied der TNF-Rezeptor-Superfamilie. Dieser Rezeptor ist für die Generierung und Langzeitpflege der T-Zell-Immunität erforderlich. Er bindet an den Liganden CD70 und spielt eine Schlüsselrolle bei der Regulierung der B-Zell-Aktivierung und der Immunglobulinsynthese. Dieser Rezeptor transduziert Signale, die zur Aktivierung von NF-kappaB und MAPK8/JNK führen. Es wurde gezeigt, dass die Adaptorproteine TRAF2 und TRAF5 den Signalprozess dieses Rezeptors vermitteln. CD27-bindendes Protein (SIVA), ein proapoptotisches Protein, kann an diesen Rezeptor binden und spielt vermutlich eine wichtige Rolle bei der durch diesen Rezeptor induzierten Apoptose.
