CCL8, auch bekannt als Monozyten-Chemoattraktor-Protein 2 (MCP2), ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das CCL8-Gen kodiert wird. Es ist ein kleines Zytokin, das zur CC-Chemokinfamilie gehört. Das CCL8-Protein wird als Vorläufer mit 109 Aminosäuren produziert, der gespalten wird, um reifes CCL8 mit 75 Aminosäuren zu bilden. Das Gen für CCL8 wird von 3 Exons kodiert und befindet sich in einem großen Cluster von CC-Chemokinen auf Chromosom 17q11.2 beim Menschen. MCP-2 ist chemotaktisch für und aktiviert viele verschiedene Immunzellen, einschließlich Mastzellen, Eosinophile und Basophile (die an allergischen Reaktionen beteiligt sind) sowie Monozyten, T-Zellen und NK-Zellen, die an der Entzündungsreaktion beteiligt sind.
