Product description

Background

Ancillary protein that assembles as a beta subunit with a voltage-gated potassium Channel complex of pore-forming alpha subunits. Modulates the gating kinetics and enhances stability of the Channel complex. Assembled with KCNB1 modulates the gating characteristics of the delayed rectifier voltage-dependent potassium Channel KCNB1 (PubMed: 19219384). Assembled with KCNQ1/KVLQT1 is proposed to form the slowly activating delayed rectifier cardiac potassium (IKs) Channel. The outward current reaches its steady state only after 50 seconds. Assembled with KCNH2/HERG may modulate the rapidly activating component of the delayed rectifying potassium current in heart (IKr).

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human KCNE1 antibody. KCNE1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human KCNE1 Antibody is added and binds to KCNE1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KCNE1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human KCNE1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
