Product description

Background

Catalyzes the initial step in triglyceride hydrolysis in adipocyte and non-adipocyte lipid droplets (PubMed: 15550674, PubMed: 23066022). Exhibits a strong preference for the hydrolysis of long-chain fatty acid esters at the sn-2 position of the glycerol backbone (PubMed: 23066022). Also has acylglycerol transacylase activity. Acts coordinately with LIPE/HLS and DGAT2 within the lipolytic cascade. Regulates adiposome size and may be involved in the degradation of adiposomes. May play an important role in energy homeostasis. May play a role in the response of the organism to starvation, enhancing hydrolysis of triglycerides and providing free fatty acids to other tissues to be oxidized in situations of energy depletion.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse PNPLA2 antibody. PNPLA2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse PNPLA2 Antibody is added and binds to PNPLA2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PNPLA2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse PNPLA2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
