"Studien haben bestätigt, dass Eisen das häufigste Übergangsmetallelement in lebenden Organismen ist und an einer Vielzahl physiologischer Aktivitäten beteiligt ist. In den letzten Jahren hat freies Eisen in Zellen aufgrund seiner hohen Reaktivität und seiner Korrelation mit Zellschäden und -tod mehr Aufmerksamkeit auf sich gezogen. Freies Eisen existiert in der Zelle als stabiles Fe2+ und Fe3+. Angesichts der reduzierenden Umgebung, des Metalltransporters und der Wasserlöslichkeit von Fe2+ ist das Verhalten von Fe2+ wichtiger als das von Fe3+.
Dieses Kit bietet eine Fluoreszenzsonde, die spezifisch an Fe2+ binden kann, und die Sonde kann gut in das Zellinnere eindringen, was für den Nachweis von Fe2+ in lebenden Zellen geeignet ist. Wenn die Sonde mit Fe2+ reagiert, wird ein irreversibles orange (rot) fluoreszierendes Produkt erzeugt (Anregungswellenlänge: 530 nm Emissionswellenlänge: 580 nm)."
