PD-L1, also known as CD274, is an immune-regulatory transmembrane ligand for PD-1 that raises the activation threshold of T cells and helps limit excessive immune responses. It is principally a cell-surface membrane protein on immune and other cell types, with regulated intracellular trafficking and context-dependent nuclear localisation also reported.
