Ce gène est un membre de la famille TIS11 de gènes de réponse précoce, qui sont induits par divers agonistes tels que l'ester de phorbol TPA et le mitogène polypeptidique EGF. Ce gène est bien conservé chez les espèces et possède un promoteur qui contient des motifs observés dans d'autres gènes à réponse précoce. La protéine codée contient un domaine putatif de doigt de zinc distinctif avec un motif cys-his répété. Ce facteur de transcription nucléaire putatif fonctionne très probablement dans la régulation de la réponse aux facteurs de croissance.
