La protéine phosphatase 2A est l'une des quatre principales phosphatases Ser/Thr et est impliquée dans le contrôle négatif de la croissance et de la division cellulaires. Les holoenzymes de la protéine phosphatase 2A sont des protéines hétérotrimères composées d'une sous-unité structurelle A, d'une sous-unité catalytique C et d'une sous-unité régulatrice B. La sous-unité régulatrice est codée par un ensemble diversifié de gènes qui ont été regroupés dans les familles B/PR55, B'/PR61 et B''/PR72. Ces différentes sous-unités régulatrices confèrent des spécificités enzymatiques et des localisations intracellulaires distinctes à l'holoenzyme. Le produit de ce gène appartient à la famille B'. Ce gène code un activateur spécifique de la phosphotyrosyl phosphatase de la forme dimérique de la protéine phosphatase 2A.
