Le facteur de transcription SOX-9 est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène SOX9. La protéine codée par ce gène reconnaît la séquence CCTTGAG ainsi que d'autres membres des protéines de liaison à l'ADN de la classe HMG-box. Elle agit pendant la différenciation des chondrocytes et, avec le facteur stéroïdogénique 1, régule la transcription du gène de l'hormone anti-Müllerienne (AMH). Les déficiences entraînent le syndrome de malformation squelettique appelé dysplasie campomélique, souvent avec inversion sexuelle.
