Le récepteur des immunoglobulines polymériques est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène PIGR. C'est un récepteur Fc qui facilite la sécrétion des isoformes polymériques solubles des immunoglobulines A et M. Ce gène est cartographié sur 1q31-q41. Le récepteur poly-Ig codé se lie aux molécules d'immunoglobulines polymériques à la surface basolatérale des cellules épithéliales ; le complexe est ensuite transporté à travers la cellule pour être sécrété à la surface apicale. Une association significative a été trouvée entre la néphropathie à immunoglobulines A et plusieurs SNP dans ce gène.
