La protéine du groupe à haute mobilité B, également connue sous le nom de HMG4, est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène HMGB3. Ce gène code un membre d'une famille de protéines contenant un ou plusieurs motifs de liaison à l'ADN du groupe à haute mobilité. La protéine codée joue un rôle important dans le maintien des populations de cellules souches et peut être exprimée de manière aberrante dans les cellules tumorales. Une mutation dans ce gène a été associée à la microphtalmie syndromique 13. Il existe de nombreux pseudogènes de ce gène sur plusieurs chromosomes. L'épissage alternatif conduit à de multiples variants de transcrits.
