La FSHB, également connue sous le nom de sous-unité bêta de la follitropine, est une protéine qui chez l'homme est codée par le gène FSHB, et ce gène est cartographié sur 11p14.1. La FSHB permet la folliculogenèse ovarienne jusqu'au stade du follicule antral et est essentielle à la prolifération des cellules de Sertoli et au maintien de la qualité du sperme dans le testicule. Elle peut stimuler le développement des follicules et la spermatogenèse dans les organes reproducteurs. Ce gène code la sous-unité bêta de l'hormone folliculo-stimulante. Conjointement avec l'hormone lutéinisante, l'hormone folliculo-stimulante induit la production d'ovules et de spermatozoïdes.
