La chaîne bêta de la tubuline est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène TUBB. Ce gène code une protéine bêta-tubuline. Cette protéine forme un dimère avec l'alpha-tubuline et agit comme un composant structurel des microtubules. Les mutations de ce gène entraînent une dysplasie corticale, complexe, avec d'autres malformations cérébrales 6. L'épissage alternatif donne lieu à de multiples variants d'épissage. Il existe de multiples pseudogènes pour ce gène sur les chromosomes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9 et 13.
