L'aldo-céto réductase famille 1, membre B1 (aldose réductase), également connue sous le nom d'AR, est une enzyme qui chez l'homme est codée par le gène AKR1B1. Ce gène code un membre de la super famille des aldo/céto réductases, qui se compose de plus de 40 enzymes et protéines connues. Ce membre catalyse la réduction d'un certain nombre d'aldéhydes, y compris la forme aldéhyde du glucose, et est ainsi impliqué dans le développement de complications diabétiques en catalysant la réduction du glucose en sorbitol.
