CCL1, Chemokin-(C-C-Motiv)-Ligand 1, ist eines von mehreren Zytokin-Genen, die auf dem q-Arm von Chromosom 17 geclustert sind. Zytokine sind eine Familie sezernierter Proteine, die an immunregulatorischen und entzündlichen Prozessen beteiligt sind. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist strukturell mit der CXC-Unterfamilie der Zytokine verwandt. Mitglieder dieser Unterfamilie zeichnen sich durch zwei Cysteinreste aus, die durch eine einzelne Aminosäure getrennt sind. Dieses Zytokin wird von aktivierten T-Zellen sezerniert und weist chemotaktische Aktivität für Monozyten, aber nicht für Neutrophile auf. Es bindet an den Chemokinrezeptor CCR8.
