Das Break-Apart-Design wird verwendet, um Rearrangements zu untersuchen, die GRM1 betreffen, wobei die Trennung unterschiedlich markierter Sondensignale eine Störung des Ziellokus in vorbereiteten Forschungsproben anzeigen kann.
FISH-Sonden werden auf fixierte Zellen oder vorbereitete Gewebeschnitte angewendet, bei denen genomische Ziele räumlich erhalten bleiben, wodurch sie nützlich für die molekulare Zytogenetikforschung, Tumorbiologiestudien und die Überprüfung struktureller oder numerischer Chromosomenveränderungen sind.
