Die Fanconi-Anämie-Komplementationsgruppe (FANC) umfasst derzeit FANCA, FANCB, FANCC, FANCD1 (auch BRCA2 genannt), FANCD2, FANCE, FANCF, FANCG, FANCI, FANCJ (auch BRIP1 genannt), FANCL, FANCM und FANCN (auch PALB2 genannt). Die zuvor definierte Gruppe FANCH ist identisch mit FANCA. Die Fanconi-Anämie ist eine genetisch heterogene rezessive Erkrankung, die durch zytogenetische Instabilität, Überempfindlichkeit gegenüber DNA-Vernetzungsmitteln, erhöhten Chromosomenbruch und defekte DNA-Reparatur gekennzeichnet ist. Die Mitglieder der Fanconi-Anämie-Komplementationsgruppe weisen keine Sequenzähnlichkeit auf; sie sind durch ihren Zusammenbau zu einem gemeinsamen nuklearen Proteinkomplex miteinander verwandt. Dieses Gen kodiert das Protein für die Komplementationsgruppe L. Alternatives Spleißen führt zu zwei Transkriptvarianten, die verschiedene Isoformen kodieren. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Juli 2008].
