Myosin ist ein hexameres zelluläres ATPase-Motorprotein. Es besteht aus zwei schweren Ketten, zwei nicht phosphorylierbaren Alkalileichtketten und zwei phosphorylierbaren regulatorischen Leichtketten. Dieses Gen kodiert eine Myosin-Alkalileichtkette, die sowohl in langsam zuckenden Skelettmuskeln als auch in nicht-muskulärem Gewebe exprimiert wird.
