Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der F-Box-Proteinfamilie, die durch ein etwa 40 Aminosäuren umfassendes Motiv, die F-Box, gekennzeichnet ist. F-Box-Proteine bilden eine Untereinheit von modularen E3-Ubiquitin-Ligasen-Komplexen, den sogenannten SCF-Komplexen, die bei der Phosphorylierungs-abhängigen Ubiquitinierung eine Rolle spielen. Die F-Box-Domäne vermittelt Protein-Protein-Interaktionen und bindet direkt an das S-Phasen-Kinase-assoziierte Protein 1. Neben einer F-Box-Domäne enthält das kodierte Protein mindestens 9 tandemartige Leucin-reiche Wiederholungen. Der Ubiquitin-Ligasen-Komplex, der das kodierte Protein enthält, kann die Zellzykluskontrolle durch die Regulierung der Spiegel der Lysin-spezifischen Demethylase 4A beeinflussen.
