Hintergrund

Der Succinatdehydrogenase (SDH)-Komplex (oder Komplex II) der mitochondrialen Atmungskette besteht aus 4 einzelnen Untereinheiten. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein befindet sich in den Mitochondrien und ist für die SDH-Montage unerlässlich, assoziiert aber in vivo nicht physikalisch mit dem Komplex. Mutationen in diesem Gen sind mit der SDH-defekten infantilen Leukoenzephalopathie (Mitochondrien-Komplex-II-Mangel) assoziiert. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, März 2010]
