Hintergrund

Die Genexpression von Globin wird durch Kernfaktor-Erythroid-2 (NFE2)-Elemente reguliert, die sich in Enhancer-ähnlichen Locus-Kontrollregionen befinden, die viele kb stromaufwärts von Alpha- und Beta-Genclustern positioniert sind (zusammengefasst von Blank et al., 1997 [PubMed 9166829]). Die NFE2-DNA-Bindungsaktivität besteht aus einem Heterodimer, das ein ubiquitäres kleines Maf-Protein (MafF, MIM 604877; MafG; oder MafK, MIM 600197) und das gewebespezifische Protein p45 NFE2 (MIM 601490) enthält. Beide Untereinheiten sind Mitglieder der Aktivatorprotein-1-ähnlichen Superfamilie von bZIP-Proteinen (Basic Leucine Zipper) (siehe MIM 165160).[bereitgestellt von OMIM, März 2010],
