Hintergrund

Synaptotagmine, wie SYT5, sind eine Familie von Typ-III-Membranproteinen, die durch zytoplasmatische Wiederholungen gekennzeichnet sind, die mit den regulatorischen (C2)-Domänen der Proteinkinase C (siehe MIM 176960) verwandt sind und vermutlich Kalzium binden. Synaptotagmine können sowohl als negative Regulatoren der Vesikelfusion, die die Fusion in Anwesenheit von Kalzium ermöglichen, als auch als Kalziumrezeptoren oder Sensormoleküle fungieren (Zusammenfassung von Hudson und Birnbaum, 1995 [PubMed 7597049]).[bereitgestellt von OMIM, Feb 2011],
