Rekombinantes humanes Syndecan-1 wird von unserem Säugetier-Expressionssystem produziert und das Zielgen, das Gln18-Glu251 kodiert, wird mit einem Fc-Tag am C-Terminus exprimiert.
Syndecan-1 ist ein Einzelpass-Typ-I-Membranprotein, das zur Syndecan-Proteoglykanfamilie gehört. Die Syndecane vermitteln Zellbindung, Zellsignalisierung und Zytoskelettorganisation, und Syndecan-Rezeptoren sind für die Internalisierung des HIV-1-Tat-Proteins erforderlich. Humanes SDC1 wird als 310 Aminosäuren langer Vorläufer synthetisiert, der eine 22 Aminosäuren lange Signalsequenz und eine 288 Aminosäuren lange reife Kette enthält. Das Syndecan-1-Protein fungiert als integrales Membranprotein und beteiligt sich an Zellproliferation, Zellmigration und Zell-Matrix-Interaktionen über seinen Rezeptor für extrazelluläre Matrixproteine. Eine veränderte Syndecan-1-Expression wurde in verschiedenen Tumortypen nachgewiesen.
