Rekombinantes humanes Insulin-ähnlicher Wachstumsfaktor-bindendes Protein 5 wird durch unser Säugetier-Expressionssystem produziert, und das Zielgen, das Leu21-Glu272 kodiert, wird mit einem 6His-Tag am C-Terminus exprimiert.
Insulin-ähnlicher Wachstumsfaktor-bindendes Protein 5 (IGFBP-5) ist ein sezerniertes Protein, das zur Superfamilie der Insulin-ähnlichen Wachstumsfaktor-bindenden Proteine (IGFBP) gehört. Mitglieder dieser Familie verlängern die Halbwertszeit der IGFs. Es wurde gezeigt, dass sie die wachstumsfördernden Effekte der IGFs auf Zellkulturen entweder hemmen oder stimulieren. Sie verändern die Interaktion von IGFs mit ihren Zelloberflächenrezeptoren. IGFBP-5 enthält eine IGFBP-N-terminale Domäne und eine Thyroglobulin-Typ-1-Domäne. IGFBP-5 wird von Fibroblasten, Myoblasten und Osteosarkom exprimiert. Es ist auch in geringeren Mengen in Leber, Niere und Gehirn vorhanden.
