Mutationen in diesem Gen führen zu autosomal dominanter erblicher Thrombophilie. Ein inaktives Pseudogen dieses Locus befindet sich in einer benachbarten Region auf Chromosom 3. Alternatives Spleißen führt zu mehreren Transkriptvarianten, die verschiedene Isoformen kodieren, die ähnliche Prozesse durchlaufen können, um reifes Protein zu erzeugen.
