Methionin-Synthase, auch bekannt als MS, MeSe, MetH, ist für die Regeneration von Methionin aus Homocystein verantwortlich. Beim Menschen wird sie durch das MTR-Gen (5-Methyltetrahydrofolat-Homocystein-Methyltransferase) kodiert. Es ist auf 1q43 kartiert. Dieses Gen kodiert die 5-Methyltetrahydrofolat-Homocystein-Methyltransferase. Dieses Enzym, auch bekannt als Cobalamin-abhängige Methionin-Synthase, katalysiert den letzten Schritt der Methionin-Biosynthese. Mutationen in MTR wurden als die zugrunde liegende Ursache der Methylcobalamin-Mangel-Komplementationsgruppe G identifiziert. Alternativ gespleißte Transkriptvarianten, die unterschiedliche Isoformen kodieren, wurden für dieses Gen gefunden.
