Die Glutamatdecarboxylase 1 (Gehirn, 67 kDa) (GAD67), auch bekannt als GAD1, ist ein menschliches Gen. Es ist auf 2q31.1 kartiert. Dieses Gen kodiert eine von mehreren Formen der Glutaminsäuredecarboxylase, die als wichtiges Autoantigen bei insulinabhängigem Diabetes identifiziert wurde. Das kodierte Enzym ist für die Katalyse der Produktion von Gamma-Aminobuttersäure aus L-Glutaminsäure verantwortlich. Eine pathogene Rolle für dieses Enzym wurde in der menschlichen Bauchspeicheldrüse identifiziert, da es als Autoantigen und autoreaktives T-Zell-Ziel bei insulinabhängigem Diabetes identifiziert wurde. Dieses Gen könnte auch eine Rolle beim Stiff-Man-Syndrom spielen. Ein Mangel an diesem Enzym führt nachweislich zu Pyridoxinabhängigkeit mit Anfällen. Alternatives Splicing dieses Gens führt zu zwei Produkten, der vorherrschenden 67-kD-Form und einer selteneren 25-kD-Form.
