Die katalytische Kette der Carboxypeptidase N ist ein Enzym, das beim Menschen durch das CPN1-Gen kodiert wird. Carboxypeptidase N ist eine Plasma-Metallo-Protease, die basische Aminosäuren vom C-Terminus von Peptiden und Proteinen abspaltet. Das Enzym ist wichtig bei der Regulierung von Peptiden wie Kinin und Anaphylatoxinen und ist auch als Kininase-1 und Anaphylatoxin-Inaktivator bekannt. Dieses Enzym ist ein Tetramer, das aus zwei identischen regulatorischen Untereinheiten und zwei identischen katalytischen Untereinheiten besteht; dieses Gen kodiert die katalytische Untereinheit. Mutationen in diesem Gen können mit Angioödem oder chronischer Urtikaria infolge eines Carboxypeptidase-N-Mangels assoziiert sein.
