CD82 (Cluster of Differentiation 82), auch KAI1 genannt, ist ein menschliches Protein, das durch das CD82-Gen kodiert wird. Das Gen ist auf 11p11.2 kartiert. Dieses Metastasierungs-Suppressor-Genprodukt ist ein Membranglykoprotein, das ein Mitglied der Transmembran-4-Superfamilie ist. Die Expression dieses Gens wurde in der Tumorprogression menschlicher Krebserkrankungen als herunterreguliert gezeigt und kann durch p53 über eine Konsensus-Bindungssequenz im Promotor aktiviert werden. Die Expression des CD82-Proteins scheint mit der Lymphknotenmetastasierung beim Plattenepithelkarzinom der Speiseröhre (ESCC) zu korrelieren. Und die CD82-Überexpression kann die Tumorinvasivität und das metastatische Potenzial unterdrücken, indem sie die MMP9-Inaktivierung über die Hochregulierung von TIMP1 induziert.
