Makrophagen-inflammatorisches Protein-1 alpha (MIP-1 alpha), auch CCL3, LD78 genannt. Die cDNA für CCL3 prognostiziert ein reifes Peptid von 69 Aminosäuren mit einer Molekülmasse von 7.889 Dalton. CCL3 ist ein Mitglied einer neu identifizierten Superfamilie kleiner induzierbarer Proteine, die an Entzündungsreaktionen, Wundheilung und Tumorgenese beteiligt sind. CCL3 ist ein Chemokin, das in vitro pro-inflammatorische und stammzellhemmende Aktivitäten aufweist. Es stellt ein wichtiges zweites Signal für die Degranulation von Mastzellen in der Konjunktiva in vivo und folglich für akute Erkrankungen dar.
