Technical note
Mittels Coenzym I als Wasserstoffträger katalysiert LDH die Bildung von Pyruvat aus Milchsäure. Pyruvat reagierte mit 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazin unter Bildung von Pyruvatdinitrophenylhydrazon, das in alkalischer Lösung rotbraun war, wobei die Farbtiefe proportional zur Pyruvatkonzentration war. Die Aktivität von LDH konnte durch Messung des OD-Wertes berechnet werden.
