Katalase (CAT) kann die Zersetzung von H2O2 in Sauerstoff und Wasser katalysieren, und diese Reaktion wird durch Zugabe von Ammoniummolybdat schnell gestoppt. Das restliche H2O2 reagiert mit Ammoniummolybdat zu einem gelblichen Komplex. Die CAT-Aktivität kann durch die Produktion des gelblichen Komplexes bei 405 nm berechnet werden.
