Monoaminoxidase (MAO) ist ein membrangebundenes mitochondriales Enzym, das in Bindegeweben und Zellmitochondrien von Leber, Niere, Dünndarm, Magen, Gehirn und anderen Organen weit verbreitet ist. MAO-A metabolisiert Neurotransmitter wie Serotonin, Dopamin, Serotonin, Adrenalin und Noradrenalin. Die MOA-Hemmung erhöht die Neurotransmitterspiegel und wird zur Behandlung von Depressionen, neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen und Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen eingesetzt.
Das Nachweisprinzip dieses Kits: MAO-A kann das Substrat katalysieren, um fluoreszierende Substanzen zu erzeugen. Nach Zugabe von Inhibitoren wird die Bildung fluoreszierender Substanzen gehemmt, und die Wirkung der Inhibitoren wird anhand des Grades der Hemmung bestimmt.
