Survival motor neuron protein (SMN), produced from the closely related SMN1 and SMN2 genes, is a core component of the SMN complex that supports assembly of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins required for pre-mRNA splicing. SMN is present in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, including nuclear bodies known as gems, and is particularly important for motor-neuron maintenance and RNA-processing pathways.
This Boster Bio antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against an N-terminal synthetic peptide shared by human SMN1/2 and the corresponding mouse and rat sequences.
