“We manufacture everything in-house.”
The claim is misleading when catalogue products are sourced, OEM-produced, relabelled or fulfilled by third parties and that distinction is not disclosed.
Corporate responsibility & sustainability
ABMIUM links supplier transparency, responsible procurement and scientific diligence so laboratories can evaluate products and providers with clearer evidence.
Our position
Environmental and social responsibility are part of how we assess providers, documentation and procurement risk. Sustainability language is not a substitute for product evidence, regulatory documentation or supplier provenance.
Greenwashing is the use of environmental language or presentation that makes a business, product or supply chain appear more sustainable than the evidence supports. In the reagent market, it can sit alongside science-washing and origin-washing: claims about validation, manufacturing or traceability that are broader than the underlying records.
The claim is misleading when catalogue products are sourced, OEM-produced, relabelled or fulfilled by third parties and that distinction is not disclosed.
“Validated” needs application-specific methods, controls, results and relevant lot or batch evidence. A logo, generic statement or single image is not universal validation.
The claim should be supported by identifiable facilities, manufacturing capability, quality records and a traceable relationship to the product.
Environmental claims need a defined boundary, evidence and meaningful context. Remote working or direct shipping alone does not establish net zero or zero impact.
Supplier transparency
ABMIUM analyses research reagent providers using available evidence, including manufacturing information, validation records, quality signals and documented historical concerns. Each rating is an evidence-based snapshot, not an endorsement or a claim that every product from a provider performs identically.
Responsibility framework
ABMIUM connects supplier transparency and research reproducibility with social, environmental and economic responsibility. These are operating principles, not quantified impact claims.
Pillar 01
Clearer evidence helps researchers and procurement teams question supplier claims before committing time and budget.
Pillar 02
Better-informed selection may help avoid unnecessary repeat work and material use; ABMIUM has not yet quantified this outcome.
Pillar 03
Supplier evidence can support decisions based on total research cost and risk, not unit price alone.
Most relevant SDGs
This is a relevance mapping to current workstreams. It is not a claim that ABMIUM has delivered or measured outcomes against these goals.
Provider evidence and reagent-selection support are relevant to the reliability of health-research workflows.
Active workstreamThe Provider Register reviews available evidence about manufacturing control, infrastructure and supplier transparency.
Active workstreamEvidence before purchase may reduce avoidable procurement and repeat-work risk. Environmental savings have not yet been quantified.
Outcome unmeasuredABMIUM has not established a complete Scope 1–3 footprint and does not make a net-zero claim. Baseline work is required before reporting progress.
Baseline neededProviders and researchers can submit evidence or corrections, supporting a more transparent shared information base.
Active workstreamThe mapping below explains possible relevance to life-science procurement and research. Only goals tied to a current ABMIUM workstream are labelled direct.
Relevant to affordability and access discussions in research procurement; ABMIUM has no measured poverty outcome.
Sector relevanceLife-science tools can support food and agricultural research; no direct ABMIUM outcome is claimed.
Sector relevanceProvider evidence and reagent-selection support relate directly to health-research reproducibility.
Direct workstreamPublic supplier information and scientific guidance can support research training and informed purchasing.
Sector relevanceABMIUM has not published a measured programme or outcome against this goal.
Not currently evidencedResearch reagents may be used in environmental monitoring, but this is not an ABMIUM impact claim.
Sector relevanceNo current ABMIUM project or measured outcome is published against this goal.
Not currently evidencedSupplier transparency and clearer procurement information are relevant to responsible scientific commerce.
Sector relevanceThe Provider Register examines supplier infrastructure, manufacturing control and transparency.
Direct workstreamFree public provider summaries may broaden access to supplier information; impact is unmeasured.
Developing relevanceNo current ABMIUM project or measured outcome is published against this goal.
Not currently evidencedEvidence before purchase may reduce avoidable reagent and repeat-work risk; material savings are unmeasured.
Direct workstreamA complete Scope 1–3 baseline has not been established, so no climate-performance or net-zero claim is made.
Baseline neededNo current ABMIUM project or measured outcome is published against this goal.
Not currently evidencedNo current ABMIUM project or measured outcome is published against this goal.
Not currently evidencedEvidence-based summaries, correction routes and claims boundaries support transparent governance.
Direct workstreamResearchers and providers can contribute evidence or corrections to the shared supplier-information process.
Direct workstreamESG framework
A concise view of what is active now and what still requires a baseline.
Repeat-work pathway Better reagent decisions may reduce wasted materials, but the effect is not yet measured.
Emissions baseline A complete Scope 1–3 footprint has not been established.
Claims boundary No net-zero or quantified climate-performance claim is made.
Public access Provider summaries are available without charge.
Scientific support Researchers can request help with reagent selection and validation.
Correction route Researchers and providers can submit evidence or corrections.
Provider Register Ratings are evidence-based snapshots, not endorsements.
Evidence files Detailed company reports can be requested.
Change control Published summaries can be corrected when substantiated evidence is supplied.
Published evidence
Only the current public workstream directly relevant to supplier transparency is listed here.
The public page verifies that the workstream exists and describes its scope. It does not prove an environmental outcome.
Next reporting priorities
We will expand reporting where evidence collection is mature enough for publication.
