PIN1 is a peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase that recognises phosphorylated serine/threonine-proline motifs and changes the conformation of selected phosphoproteins. Through this activity it acts as a regulatory switch in processes including cell-cycle control and mitosis, with functions in both nuclear and cytoplasmic signalling contexts.
