PECAM1 (CD31) is a single-pass cell-surface adhesion protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that is particularly concentrated at endothelial cell-cell junctions and is also expressed on platelets and several leukocyte populations. It contributes to vascular cell adhesion and is required for efficient leukocyte transendothelial migration during inflammatory trafficking.
