Macrophage stimulating protein (MSP), encoded by MST1, is a secreted extracellular protein produced as a precursor that is proteolytically processed into disulphide-linked subunits. It signals through the RON/MST1R receptor tyrosine kinase and contributes to epithelial and macrophage-related signalling, including regulation of cell motility and tissue responses.
