KIF3A is a kinesin motor subunit of heterotrimeric kinesin-2, an intracellular microtubule-based transport complex. It supports anterograde trafficking of proteins and organelles and is particularly important for intraflagellar transport, cilium assembly and cilium-dependent signalling, with localisation associated with the cytoplasm, microtubule transport machinery and ciliary structures.
