BCR encodes breakpoint cluster region protein, a multidomain regulator of small GTPase signalling. This ABMIUM target record connects the human BCR reference identifiers with catalogue products that target BCR.
Biological function: BCR combines opposing regulatory activities toward small GTP-binding proteins. Its C-terminal GAP domain promotes GTP hydrolysis by RAC1, RAC2 and CDC42, while its central DH domain has guanine-nucleotide exchange activity toward CDC42, RHOA and RAC1. The amino terminus also has intrinsic kinase activity. BCR is additionally important because chromosomal rearrangement with ABL1 produces the BCR-ABL fusion associated with chronic myeloid leukaemia and other leukaemias.
