AGER is the advanced glycosylation end-product specific receptor, commonly known as RAGE. It is a multiligand cell-surface receptor that senses advanced glycation end products and other endogenous stress-associated ligands, linking extracellular stress signals to inflammatory cellular responses.
Biological function: AGER/RAGE is an immunoglobulin-superfamily pattern-recognition receptor that binds multiple structurally diverse ligands, including advanced glycation end products, S100 proteins and HMGB1.
