Rat ATG7(Autophagy Related Protein 7) Microsample ELISA Kit is a research-use ELISA kit from ELK Biotechnology for measuring ATG7 in Tissue homogenates, Cell lysates, Other biological fluids samples from Rat. Use the listed assay range, sample guidance and protocol documents to assess suitability for the intended study.
The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat ATG7. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells then with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Rat ATG7. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Rat ATG7, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of Rat ATG7 in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
Alternative names include APG7L; GSA7; Ubiquitin-like modifier-activating enzyme ATG7; ATG12-activating enzyme E1 ATG7; Ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1-like protein.

ATG7 (autophagy related 7) encodes ubiquitin-like modifier-activating enzyme ATG7, an E1-like enzyme that drives the ATG12-ATG5 and ATG8/LC3 conjugation systems required for autophagosome formation. ABMIUM catalogue products linked below target ATG7; suitability remains product- and application-specific.
Biological function: ATG7 acts as the E1-like activating enzyme for two core autophagy conjugation pathways. It activates ATG12 for conjugation to ATG5 and activates ATG8-family proteins for phosphatidylethanolamine conjugation, supporting LC3 lipidation and autophagosomal membrane formation. Reviewed UniProt also supports a role in mitophagy and mitochondrial quality control.
