GRIA4 is an AMPA-type ionotropic glutamate receptor subunit that contributes to fast excitatory synaptic transmission. It is a multi-pass membrane protein localised to neuronal cell surfaces and postsynaptic membranes, where glutamate binding opens the receptor channel and permits cation flux.
