HSPD1, commonly known as Hsp60, is a mitochondrial chaperonin that supports the folding and assembly of proteins imported into the mitochondrial matrix. Together with its co-chaperonin Hsp10, it helps maintain mitochondrial proteostasis and assists the refolding of stress-damaged polypeptides.
