ARNT, also known as HIF-1 beta, is a basic helix-loop-helix PAS transcription factor that functions in the nucleus as a dimerisation partner for hypoxia-inducible factors and the aryl hydrocarbon receptor. Through these complexes it contributes to transcriptional responses to low oxygen and xenobiotic signalling.
