YWHAG encodes 14-3-3 protein gamma, an intracellular phosphoserine-binding adaptor that helps coordinate signal transduction by interacting with phosphorylated partner proteins. It is broadly expressed, including in brain and muscle, and is associated predominantly with the cytoplasm, with additional mitochondrial localisation reported in curated protein records.
