Endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (ESM1, also known as endocan) is a secreted proteoglycan produced predominantly by endothelial cells. It is involved in angiogenic sprouting and endothelial cell interactions and is notably expressed in vascular beds including the lung and kidney.
